They don't NEED a reset button or magic - they can just end the show with all the kids alive and healthy, albeit terrified, by pulling a 'You've been owned! it was all a dream/game/illusion, guys! Hahaha!'

T_T

If you don't like the original story, why make an anime of it? Logic fails me.

I agree that the anime will be like or dislike by its adaptation of the manga. Can't blame the director though. Maybe he has a soft spot for the kids?

I just hope they don't pull out a reset button. Not a good end for an emotional roller coaster ride. It felt a bit lacking with the watered-down scenes, but still acceptable. But I hope he doesn't try to "put things right", or we'll end in failure.

Hmmm.... so that's why the show had some of it's elements altered/removed (i.e. Kako's death, Chizuru's blackmail/murder revenge, and the removal of a BIG foreshadowing scene.).

I really appreciate the how the show focuses a bit more on the characters, but if the director is going to try to bring the kids back (without the use of magic), how can he do it?

Last I remember, Waku was pulled out of a cremation oven. :/

Anyway, if it's actually done well then... that's all that matters I guess.

I'm at around episode 09 in Bokurano. I find it extremely good. I haven't read the manga so thats why I'm enjoying so much. Plus I've learned to lower my expectations around each season so that helps A LOT. Given Gonzo's reputation, I think they've done a good job with art and animation, its not gonna win any awards but its very servicable. Plus people have been saying that the eerie and sad atmosphere with the music have been adapted nicely.

I'm for reasonable changes in an anime adaptation of a manga. More often than not the adaptation doesn't even have enough episodes alloted to remain absolutely faithful to its source material, and, in the extreme, Shounen Jump adaptations tend to need to put in filler to remain on pace with the source material. It's inevitable changes have to be made, and if they can do it successfully, more power to the adaptation.

”Wow. Unless the production team is truly dedicated, no way they can bring this to anime w/o screwing it up.”

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT.

Well I haven't been keeping up with the anime. But from what I hear they've changed some of the character backgrounds.

And yes the death of the children is a major part of the plot and I don't see how it's possible to save those children without drastically altering the story.
