Hitohira

Hitohira

Hitohira has just ended, bringing the curtain down to one of this season’s finest drama anime yet.

The ending was very undoubtedly inspired by Simoun, also done by Studio DEEN last year. The dance, the effects and the progression just instantly made me think of Simoun and I realize that Hitohira shares similarities with it more than just than the ending, but also in the overall plot structure and storytelling. Undoubtedly the themes are rather different but, I can definitely say Hitohira is a spiritual successor to Simoun.

In all, Hitohira has been very much an enjoyable experiences despite a few minuses here and there. It was a satisfyingly told story of a girl, who was given a dream and was brought out of her corner to see the world in a different light. I will admit I can’t really express it well in words, and Hitohira is a show that one needs to watch to innately understand it.

I found the ending very beautiful. The last scene with drama club room with all voices of past events playing and a nice tune was notable. I loved the drama, music and the unexpectedly solid and consistent art (Its Studio DEEN gimme a break!).

Meanwhile, some (most ?) of us are still waiting for subs beyond episode 2…

A new group picked up the show though, so maybe we can hope for new episodes in a near future.

T_T Hitohira was my 3rd favorite first episode show from this season. Instantly making me go, OH maybe, just maybe this will be something to fill that craving that shows like Strawberry Panic left me.
And yet, 12 weeks later and still, only 2 episodes have been subbed. -_-

But as Skh says, we do have hope with the new group that just started subbing it.

I absolutely loved it. Lovely story, good solid animation, and likeable characters. Long live shoujo drama!

Like most of the other commenters though, I could really do with having the other ten episodes subbed. My Japanese skills allow me to just about get by with watching the raws, but I just know I’m missing out on oodles of meaning. Bring on the subs, I say! Starlight, we’ll be cheering you on!

I just finished this too. The ending was really good, though I found it had a ridiculous amount of animation compared to the rest of the episodes xD. Although this was a good series to watch, I honestly don’t think it is that memorable. Maybe it’s just me. :P
