I find amuzing how can people drop a 24~26 episode series after just a few episodes given most good shows use up as half it's episodes just to create an enviroment and present the characters, and only THAN the main arc begins. That was the case with KG, up to about half the series it's episodic and boring, but it does it's part into presenting all the main characters and their personalities. Any review which neglects the later part of the series, which is deeply plot/character oriented, is probably some plain review from someone who did not watch it whole.

As for the pilot on KG2, I think it was kind of lame in the sense they spent too much time showing the old characters "dying" ... as if ... we all know they will come back (or they wouldn't bother using the pilot just to kill them off, if so, it was a useless pilot). Also, Lumiere is kind of void without Eclair. I'm very saddened about Gonzo not being part of the show since I like how they can get good IIF they get serious about it (alas, later part of KG). But people have to take care when mentioning the show will get better/worse because of this: It's Mr. Gotoh who writes and directs it (both in KG and now at KG2), with some connection from Ms. Kadonosono, so I don't think the studio will have much say on it anyway.

One should expect the same depth in development from the first seasons, except perhaps if Gotoh decided to go more into development or more into plotless fun (I hope for the best)

BTW Eureka Seven is good, it has 52 episodes, how do you expect to judge it with only 6 episodes? =p Kiddy Grade was horrible up to episode 12 anyway.

The original series of Kiddy Grade was quite good. Never trust reviewers if what you're seeing firsthand suggests that a show is actually good. Reviewers also said Eureka Seven was good, and look where that ended up... six episodes in and it's still impossible to maintain any kind of interest in it.

I only ever watched the first 3 or 4 episodes of Kiddy Grade. And then all the reviews on how poorly the show was handled started flowing in, and I got scared away.
But this pilot or whatever just looked awesome and I love the designs for the new characters. I'll probubly have to get around to watching the first series now just so that I can watch this one.
