I prefer the Chachamaru shot:

The shrunk version is above. She makes mecha look SEXY. Horribly, frighteningly, animal-brain sexy.

At any rate, it holds far more artistic merit than Ken Akamatsu could ever hope to produce! Hah!

that little witch girl when they went down to the underground world tree was possibly the closest point for me to becoming a lolicon (yeah i know you know which one im talking about). akamatsu ken is a dangerous fellow if he can pull out drawings like those again.

Now I'm not going to take that comment without standing up to it. SHAFT's Negima?! has does has it's merits yes, even I enjoyed a few episodes of it.

But my loyalties still lie on Akamatsu-sensei. I don't really know how your "artistic merit" is measured, but for me, Akamatsu-sensei's art style is one of the cleanest and consistently detailed ones out there. While his story telling can be off at times too, it can't be denied that he's a master of evoking out internal "moe", even at the most inconsequential side characters, as seen in a few chapters of the manga.

Sadly, his only flaw seems to be that his works have never been perfectly adapted from the source material but instead seem more as products to be marketed, which is probably why I didn't like SHAFT's Negima introducing the triple Pactio cards.

Sigh...I await the day that a fully faithful adaptation of Negima will be prouduced.

I find SHAFT's rather, Akiyuki Shinbo's (the fact that it is SHAFT is somewhat inconsequential to me) Negima!? to be quite good. At least what I've seen of it.
