Koi Kaze

Koi Kaze

Sinfully cute.

… is not bad at all. Thanks to a certain individual (Blame Mike!~~ Blame Mike!~~ *to the tune of “Blame Canada*), I found myself interested in it. In fact it was particularly engaging, even though 95% of the time I was going “OH SHIT! OH SHIT! OH SHIT!”. But don’t worry, I haven’t developed siscon thanks to the Westermarck effect. Besides, Nanoka is too cute to be found in real life. But I can understand… I can understand, if one were to be put in to the same situation as Koshiro was.

Particularly, why I like Koi Kaze is probably how well fleshed out the characters are, especially Koshiro, who bears the brunt of the mental torture of having fallen in love with his own sister. His anguish and reaction to having such forbidden feelings are well brought out. Nanoka, meanwhile, is probably the too-perfect younger sister, being that cute is a sin! Really! Her seiyuu does a very fine job on her… very fine job. Thankfully I’m not Stripey, but Koi Kaze does make imouto-con… well.. likable? Thankfully 99% of the time, imouto-san is non-blood related.

Koi Kaze also has some really amazing side characters, notably Chidori-san. I can easily imagine her as a yakuza/biker gang leader and she really does have the looks and charisma perfectly. But she does have a really caring side to her too and I feel kinda sad for her towards the ending episodes. Koshiro and Nanoka’s mom is also really an awesome mom, I’ll say, but I wonder why she divorced from their father…. perhaps she couldn’t stand his crybaby-ness? :P

Koi Kaze is definitely not for everyone, especially when it deals with such taboo topics like this, but in it’s core, it’s still a very well done series, tackling seriously on its subject matter and theme, which I really admire. The realistic characters also help make it a really good show, but it’s best to be forewarned before watching this series to make sure you don’t have any long separated or missing relatives XD.

Glad you liked the series. Even now, I sometimes rewatch the first episode to admire at the flow of the emotion and subtle nuances of the voice acting.

I really enjoyed this series, the whole setting and atmosphere drew me into the extent that I really felt for the characters and their plight, then afterwards I would step back and think “wait, I’m cheering on siscon?”

    >>> Thankfully 99% of the time, imouto-san is non-blood related.

Uh, you might want to reconsider that number

    1. Angel Sanctuary : Physically, their have same father and mother. This was used as one of key points in the trial of the Angels scene

    2. Boku was Imouto o Koi Shiteru : They share the same mother.

    3. Cream Lemon : Nonomura Ami series – this series elevated incest to a new level in many ways.

Glad you liked it. It’s an wonderful piece even if it deals with a taboo topic, and you picked up the right reasons to praise it :)

You’re right Kuroneko-sensei; Koi Kaze is not an anime for those non-open-minded.

I deal with it because I was interested in that topic (don’t take me wrong). If they could do an anime series about a real incest case (not a non-blood-related), me hopes were on how the writers will work. And with a pleased smile on my face after watching the 13-episodes on-a-row, I was able to view everything from another new perspective.

It can happen… so, be ready to accept it, as you can accept lesbians and gays.

I was ok with Koi Kaze, but the ending had me a little flabbergasted. They end up like fuck-buddies. WTF?

I read the series before and I enjoyed it. Haven’t got the chance to watch the anime version though. Is there much differences between the two mediums?

I met my half-sister for the first time about 7 years ago and i can attest that ‘genetic attraction’ is very real and confusing as hell for the both of us. Good thing i was honest and up-front with my strange attraction for her and made an effort to look for an explanation.

When i told her about the Westermarck Effect, you should have seen her look relief! She thought i(WTF!) slipped her an aphrodesiac or something…

After reading this post, for some strange reason, I wish… I wish I had a long-lost non-blood related sister…. XD

Heh. And he was so stubborn as to say that it was ‘just incest.’

    WE HAVE ANOTHER CONVERT.

This anime is crap, not just because it has incest or the fact that he’s a pedophile, well mostly because of that, but the seiyuu made me want to cry, not because of moment but because of the horrible voice acting. The two main characters are probably the most irritating main characters I’ve ever seen, they have no personality and you would never find them in real life. I mean that perverted old guy starts out lazy, miserable, and dirty, and just develops into a more lazy, miserable, dirtier, pedophiliac, lethargic, person. And that stupid high school girl just becomes even more brainless and emotionless. If you add in to the fact that the side characters were boring, and completely useless and the fact that HE HAS FUCKING SEX WITH HIS 15 YEAR OLD SISTER it is a complete disaster of an anime. I mean first of all, she’s fifteen, second of all she just gives in unconditionally, third of all what she did is completely ironic to her “cute, innocent” image. It’s bad enough if someone in an anime who is 30 has sex with a person who is 15, and it’s also bad enough if you’re having sex with your sister, and adding them together is like adding ammonia and chlorine. . Their so called “dramatic” climax is laughable, the story is poorly constructed, the side characters serve no purpose and are anything but funny, the seiyuu makes me want to listen to Do As Infinity (which is a bad thing by the way), and the there is a lot of character development but in the opposite way of which it is suppose to go.
So I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking about watching this to run away from this anime and never look back, trust me you will thank me.
