Nocturne of Separation

Shit literally hits the fan in this episode with the legendary scene of Ayu bringing Yuuichi to visit her “school” only to find out it’s just a tree stump. This is, of course the turning point of Ayu’s story and I still remember it even it’s been 2 years since I first watched the 2002 version. I can’t really remember what happens next though, so what’s going on next will be “fresh” to me.

Suprisingly I’m not feeling the intense emotions that the other arcs have had made me felt, but then Ayu’s story is still halfway done, so for now, all I can feel is an empty feeling of “Oh shi..!” more than touched. Perhaps I just don’t like Ayu as much as I do for the rest of of the girls ;P.

Still this episode was entertaining in it’s own way, and I really like on how subtle but yet a powerful role that Akiko-san played in this episode. She instantly noticed that Yuuichi and Ayu had hooked up and went to reassure Nayuki, who seems to have accepted it well and she’s even waking up on time! Also, Akiko-san tried to give a subtle hint to Yuuichi to help him jog back the memories of 7 years ago, of which he has purposely locked away in his mind. Speaking of which, what does she job does she really do? It does feel like she’s around the house all the time.

So there’s still 4 weeks to go before Kanon ends, and this episode has proven that 25 and 26 are probably flashback episodes rather than real episodes. KyoAni’s tradition I guess. I’m still hoping that 25 and 26 might be new content though, perhaps more Nayuki-centric :P.

25 and 26 will probably just be DVD-specials like Kazehana in the original series, I guess.

I think the bathtub scene is the ONLY time we’ve seen Ayu NOT look like a grade schooler. Which, to be honest, frightens the heck out of me – especially since it seems the headband and the outfit were designed to give her a younger look.

    @ Flamestrike

“Kyo ani continues to impress me”

    my sentiments exactly! :)

    @ Haesslich:

The bath-tub scene helped me to realize that Ayu is in fact Yuuichi’s age lol…..up until now the whole relationship felt a little Lolita-ish :P….

    @ Kurogane

“so for now, all I can feel is an empty feeling of “Oh shi..!” more than touched.”

I could be wrong, but I think that’s what Kyo-Ani is going for……if anything…now I’m intrigued about Ayu’s past……before she just seemed to be focused on getting Yuiichi’s attention/affection and finding her “item”……which is easy enough to figure out by now :)… emotional bombshell is sure to drop next week :)

Good episode all around…..but I think my hope of a Nayuki ending is fading fast! :(…….if not completely shattered

Kyo-Ani better have at least two episodes for her arc…I wanna know her story :)….not literally of course….no spoilers plz ;)

The only thing that sucks now is having to wait a whole week till ep. 21 lol :P

Damn, I still haven’t bothered to watch it, but…

    >>I’m still hoping that 25 and 26 might be new content though, perhaps more Nayuki-centric :P.

    Same here, same here…

Need more Shiori-chan! And holy shit, Ayu-chan’s moe factor tripled in just one episode! My sympathy goes to Nayuki though, she was totally spaced out looking at Yuuichi and he didn’t even realize that. Looks like her feelings will never be returned in kind.

Next few episodes will detail Nayuki’s story before Ayu returns for the finale. Assuming faithfulness to the game script, it’s the only way to fit Nayuki into the anime. Her story requires Yuuichi to be socially isolated, and the period between Ayu’s disappearance and reappearance marks the only time in Ayu’s story where that is the case. By my reckoning:

    episode 21 – semi Ayu-Nayuki
    ep 22 – Nayuki
    ep 23 – Nayuki
    ep 24 – semi Ayu-Nayuki
ep 25 – other girls’ conclusions
    ep 26 – Ayu. Finale.

Or if KyoAni are going with 24 episodes:

    ep 21 – semi Ayu-Nayuki
    ep 22 – Nayuki
    ep 23 – semi Ayu-Nayuki
ep 24 – other girls’ conclusions, Ayu finale.

Logical way to structure the anime, given the necessary pause present in Ayu’s story.
