Midnight Oratorio

Kanon

A powerful episode. Very powerful episode, with lots of character development. I am somewhat overwhelmed on what to blog about this episode, whether it be from the now prevailing Shiori arc to the development of the main girls left in the current story. I will just leave everyone to watch it by themselves.

I will mention one thing however, which is the meeting between Yuuichi and Kaori at night in school. The cinematography was absolutely fabulous, with sense of depth portrayed realistically using the falling snow, accompanying the major revelation concerning Shiori. That made me stop, in awe, for a moment, just to digest it. Looks like the tissues will see use soon.

Extra shot of Ayu and Akiko-san… it was so touching I couldn’t help myself..

It was a good ep, and ed song was good too, but I still like Mai better haha. seeing that I already knew about Shiori it wasn’t a big deal at the end

In GAR voice: *wipes snow from cheek* “Hmm, You’ve done something you shouldn’t have, young lady.”

    Fantastic episode.

I was so giddy that I jumped out of my seat when I heard Last Regrets -X’mas floor style- (PEKO FTW!). Now THAT’S how you make a perfect game-to-anime translation, even more when there is more than enough source material.

And only one word for Yuuichi: Smooth.
Now THAT’S how you make a harem lead.

ps. I should QFT all of your post, but I think this should be enough:

Yuuichi is like James Bond. But instead of guns he has his sarcasm.

I must admit….this episode disappointed me a little bit…….it seems that there wasn’t the same amount of emotional build-up as the other story-arcs…….Kaori’s meltdown at the end of the episode seemed somewhat abrupt and out of place

and the Kanon theme music being played during the “date” was a tad cheesy :P

that being said this episode still gave me lots of laughs, and plenty to look forward to next week :)…And yes..the snow effects at the school are amazing!

Also, before I forget……I have to say that I LOVE Nayuki’s character development in this series :)…She’s a total sweetheart :)

There was enough emotional build-up in this. Shiori has had quite her share of screentime too. And Kaori’s meltdown doesn’t seem abrupt when we realize that all along she has been negating her feelings toward her sister with all her might… to the point of her not bearing it any longer.

You did NOT just say that >:(

I thought the inclusion of that theme was awesome. Geez, Kanon has more than enough source material to draw from, and KyoAni has been smart enough to use most of it. As opposed to DEEN, which didn’t even try to squeeze any of Higurashi’s theme songs in it (I’m still brooding for never hearing You in the animated version of Higurashi).

*sigh* She is the victim of Yuuichi’s precocious pimping. Got completely ignored by him, even when she is the one who cares the most about Yuuichi. Damn, I want my Nayuki ending :(

In the prelude to the episode, before the OP song kicks in, doesn’t anyone feel that Nayuki is feeling a wee bit jealous that Yuuichi’s always not including her in his plans? I was getting some yandere vibes out of it…

    That remix was awesome :3.

For the rest, sagematt has already said enough. I should award him honorary membership of this blog or something XD.

Such is the experience and possibly fate of most osananajimi characters. And the remix is indeed awesome.

I already have it up as mine! :)

I watched this episode again….to make sure I wasn’t imagining things…and stand by my decision lol :)…..to clarify, I didn’t say the remix itself was cheesy, but it’s placement in the episode……but as always, you are all welcome to have your own opinions :)….That’s what makes blogging/commenting so fun! :)

I’m with you sagematt……Although I don’t think KyoAni will play it up because of the cousin-factor, I too am hoping for a Nayuki ending! :)
