Winter Season 06/07 so far…

Manabi Straight

Doesn’t feel like a post without a picture :D

Whee~~ 3 days without a post. Blame Megatokyo for it. It’s probably one of the most engaging series I’ve read. Largo is GAR, I say, GAR! Rest of the characters are awesome too. Goddamit! What is with Piro’s luck with girls llorz. I think I’ll go buy the printed books if I ever find them here :P.

Well, back to topic..

Saint October

I have no idea why I am still watching this show. The execution is clearly not what I look for in anime. Must be that damned impz’s LCF. I’d admit Kotono-chan is kinda cute, but her henshin sequence is like, “HUH?!”.

Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora

I believe that episode two has offered anyone with a slight inclination towards yuri enough motivation to pick this show up. Obviously there’s a really low chance of all out YFR happening, but Kaon x Himiko still wins, hard. Also, Kuu-chan has the second funniest ever self-narration behind the awesome Kyon-kun of Haruhi.

Les Miserables~Shoujo Cosette

Sad girl in the countryside. Well, it’s the World Masterpiece Theater, might as well give it a try. Kenjiro Hata influenced me.

SHUFFLE! MEMORIES

Dear god… are they just going to do everything in recap style only? Even as a pronounced KKK fan, I fell asleep while watching episode two, which is all about Kaede. I hope I don’t lose my KKK badge from that. Anyways, the Kaede OP and ED were quite funny and interesting, especially when Kaede goes orz when the other girls hug Rin. That’s the way to go girl! Release it instead of suppressing it!

Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight

Yui Horie made me watch it, Aya Hirano made me love it. ’nuff said. MASSUGU GO!! Let’s just hope ufotable don’t mess this up… if flying squids or gothlolis appear… I’ll book a ticket to Japan.

Nodame Cantabile

Show wins for one thing, the reunion of Ayako Kawasumi and Seki Tomokazu, both extremely talented voice actors and they make a perfect combination. As a matter of fact, I fell in love with Seki for his role in RAVE, where he also co-starred with Ayako-sama. So far, the first episode has been very, very good, and I seriously enjoyed all the classical music pieces included in it. Noto-sama is also making an appearance later on, oh man…. this show will be seiyuu fanboy heaven…

Hidamari Sketch

Yoshinoya-sensei sugoi~~!! Damn I wanna collect that cosplay New Year postcard set of hers. I’m going to enjoy this show, really. Akiyuki Shinbo seems to be less crazier this time.

Venus Versus Virus

Wow, there’s zettai ryouiki for hands too? I didn’t know… :3. Anyways, the first episode sucked. Like sucked badly. I expected Lucia to be more kickass, c’mon! She like got pwned to fast, llorz. The only parts I kinda enjoyed were the prelude of both the main leads duelling or something, the OP and the ED. So anyways, the first episode kinda fell flat. I’ll continue on though, and see if there’s any redeeming factors coming on.

Getsumen to Heiki Mina

Wanna become mahou shoujo? Eat carrrots and pray you have the right genes! If you’re lucky, carrots will come flying from the Moon and attach themselves to your butt! Note that you must hate carrots first in order to have a chance at it.

Anyways, Winter 06/07 has been good so far, IMHO. Weird shows.. good shows… bad shows… yep, typical season.

    >> Ayako Kawasumi and Seki Toshihiko

Damn, they should like, marry or something. And have GARmoe healthly/manly kids. Which will in turn voice the main characters for “Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha Super S” and “Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StarS”.

Megatokyo fell from my grace a long time ago. Rodney left, and Piro turned the webcomic into his very own renai fantasy. Thus turning himself into a regular dating-sim character, and exhausting most of Largo’s l33t and GAR.

    *sigh*
That goth girl still wins, though.

    Isn’t that VA Tomokazu Seki?

“…he is sometimes mistaken for Toshihiko Seki (They have the same surname but are unrelated).” – yanked from Wikipedia

So far this season sucks. :( Well, at least in terms of what has been subbed. I enjoyed both Nodame Cantabile and Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora, but I completely agree about Shuffle. If there isn’t at least 1 or 2 ORIGINAL episodes, I think we already have biggest disappointment of 2007 less than a month into the year. I really want to check out Manabi Straight and Hidamari Sketch, watching raws with summaries just isn’t as filling. If I only had the time to learn another language! :)

I take it you were exposed to secondhand information regarding “gar”.
I hope to god you were exposed to secondhand information regarding “gar”.
If you think it is applicable to every male, you would be mistaken.
    Furthermore, fuck galagher;
    beyond that, fuck you.

You can find Seki Tomokazu and Ayako Kawasumi pairings in very recent shows. Fate/Stay Night, Kanon and Genshiken.

Season is decent. but … Kuu’s “Dear Prince…” monologues are cute, seriously, she’s so innocent, like the original Himeko.

Take pics when you make it to JP :3

Do not heed the commenters, you have good taste, except for not liking Saint October, which I thought was a riot.

What? Get your @ss down to http://www.megastore.com and buy the books there – they are the bomb, much better than reading online.

Hm, the Kaede OP showed her father (?) holding back young psycho Kaede as she seemed to attack young Rin with boxcutters. I thought her father never knew about it…

Shit… misspelled “Tomokazu” with “Toshihiko”. Typing this at 5am isn’t a very good idea…

@Deftoned: Somehow, all the good shows aren’t being subbed at all. No one’s taking up Manabi and Hidamari, both shows with quite some promise.I find quite strange no sub group has announced any interest in doing both.

@Sana Jisushi: I didn’t say I didn’t like Saint October. I just find the execution of the show a bit towards the “kiddy” side.

@Asrialys: I think the father does know about Kaede’s “revenge” on Rin. They live in the same house and Rin’s injuries aren’t that easy to mark off as mere “accidents”. I guess he understood Rin’s intention to make Kaede blame him instead of herself.

Also, for the negative commenters about Megatokyo, I don’t give a damn about the “Rodney leaving” issue, that is an old issue. Piro has managed to develop the characters and his world setting well. Of course the 4-koma days were a riot, but the current direction of Megatokyo is pretty interesting too. Well, I have no delusions on regarding that it’s Piro’s “personal renai fantasy”, but as long as I enjoy it, it’s alright with me.

The lack of Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou is a bit disappointing…

Nodame Cantabile wins for music and romance comedy along with it.

Didn’t watch KnM, actually, but Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora looks like it’s doing pretty okay.

Saint October looks very much like a parody to me. What other shows have ____ loli as a naming style?

This was written a few days before it came out. I’ve watched the first episode of Tokyo Majin, wasn’t too bad. Makes for a nice watch for those who want some good action, I guess. There is admitedly a lot of “blander” shows for those who like action, this season.
