Hayate cast list announced

Hayate the Combat Butler

The Hayate cast list has been announced.

  • Hayate Ayasaki – Ryoko Shiraishi
  • Nagi Sanzenin – Rie Kugimiya
  • Maria – Rie Tanaka
  • Hinagiku Katsura – Shizuka Itou

Hmm… that was quite far from my earlier predictions :P. But still, this doesn’t sound like a bad list. Ryoko Shiraishi’s voice has a rough edge to it, so her voice would fit well with Hayate. Rie Kugimiya as Nagi is perfect, while Rie Tanaka doing Maria was surprising but she’s got a good track record of playing meido’s and her reputation is well known so no worries there. Shizuka Itou as Hinagiku is.. well, I haven’t had much experience with her other roles before, so I’m not sure how it would turn out to be.

Now to wait for the airing date announcement :)

EDIT: Here’s some promotional videos of the anime. The CM and long PV.

Also, listening to Rie Kugimiya’s Nagi… some what felt she isn’t too “sharp”… perhaps they animated the “deredere” scenes more. Also seems that the anime might have a lot of weirdness to it… hopefully they won’t stray out of the manga too much.

Shiraishi Ryoko played Shiratori Ryushi in Mahoraba ~ Heartful Days ~, I was thinking of the main male lead in Heartful Days seems like a decent match for me.

    For Hinagiku, she’s like only a year or two younger than Tama-nee. I don’t think it’s really that far of a stretch for Shizuka Itou to voice the character ^^;;

I also liked Ryoko Shiraishi’s performance as Shiratori in Mahoraba, so I will trust her with Hayate’s voice.

As for Shizuka Itou’s voicing of Hinagiku… well, Tama-nee anyone lol?

Hmm… sounds like Hitomi Nabatame may be playing Katsura-sensei after watching the PV. Also the narrator is definitely Norio Wakamoto, so there’s hope he’ll be the narrator and/or Tama I guess?

Uwaaan. This looks like it will be good, I’m so thankful! I can’t wait till it starts airing. It’s definately one of my favorite comedy manga.

for some reason I was thinking of rie tanaka to voice hinagiku since she looks like lacus clyne.

Awesome, the PV seems to have most of the stuff from the manga.
Nagi sounds like Louise, but I guess thats because of the same VA. =P

Yeah, I’d have to say, if she uses a Shiratori-like voice, she should be fine…

… now please, don’t let GONZO get this.

I just read vol 9 and there’s a reason why Hanagiku is wearing a Lacus Clyne outfit (and singing Cruel Ang– The–) ;p

Here’s hoping they’ll keep the parodies intact, such as Hayate saying “Hiten—” in a katana match.

Well… surprising to say the least. Of course it’s not the Dream Team we thought of (but at least I take credit on nailing Nagi’s :P), but the cast is quite good. There is no way I can complain about maid Tanaka Rie :)

    Also, Tama-nee ftw.

I’m happy with most of this cast but Hayate’s voice still bugs me. At least I got what i wanted with Nagi.

Hmm if they are using the Lacus head accessory it makes me wonder if this is going to me a 26 ep series, maybe with the animation of Hina’s birthday arc. Which is a good thing other then the fact the ending arc will like shana. meh all in all i’m looking forward to it.

    @Eleutheria
She wore WHAT?! And did WHAT?! Okay, I so need to get my hands on that…

Am I the only one who was hoping that Hayate would get voiced by Hino Satoshi once they found out that Nagi would be voiced by Rie? =)

  22. zaeris Said,

I prefer my trap-kun to be female voice or else I will get Princess princess vibes and that wasn’t too good for my health ^^ lol

  23. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

Hino Satoshi cannot do manly. Hayate is manly. In fact, he’s GAR and Seki Toshihiko has the perfect voice, but well, we need to give opportunities to the newcomers, right?

Also, Eleutheria… she wore WHAT?! And did WHAT?!!

It’s times like this I hate how I can’t read Japanese to save my life.

  24. sagematt Said,

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Tomokazu Seki has plenty of GAR for Hayate, but he is not trap material. And as Horie Yui has shown us, traps go with female voices (and as zaeris wisely pointed out, PriPri is a clear-as-water example of why this should be kept that way).

I just became addicted to this manga. I looking forward to seeing how the anime plays out.

  26. Chaos2Frozen Said,

I would think of Hayate more along the lines of ‘fun’ or ‘silly’ rather than manly (yes I will agree that he has his manly points) which is almost the same as his last 2 previous characters…

But then neither he or Tomokazu Seki (this guy is the definely can do ‘manly’) are trap material… But the trap stuffs really only comes out once in awhile…

  27. Haesslich Said,

    February 21, 2007 @ 7:48 am

Hayate is NOT manly – he TRIES to be manly… but is only really manly in Nagi’s eyes. Otherwise, he’s pretty standard loser harem, with a hint of Gundam (the mecha, not the pilots) in him. He’s shy, self-effacing, extremely devoted to keeping his job (and later on, keeping Nagi happy)… and somehow draws female attention. That, and his relatively indestructible nature, are about his only good points.

In other words, he’s a lot like Shiratori from Mahoraba… which fits this manga just fine. :D Besides, he’s only really a trap when it comes to one character; the rest just feel he’s horrifically cute dressed as a girl, as (again) Shiratori from Mahoraba was… with similar results (only one guy was really interested in Shiratori-trap).
