Mai episode… but Akiko Jam scene stole the show, admiteddly.
Sayuri’s past is revealed a lot this episode as well. I didn’t know about her otouto, the 2002 version didn’t even mention it. I really wanted to say to her, “You can spoil him a little bit really!”, throughout the flashback.
But the best scene of the episode really goes to…

I would’ve cried as well… if I didn’t watch AIR last night.
@cowboybibimbop She looks a little thinner, I think. Or maybe it's just me. Anyways, nice~

Nanasaki arc ends. Cute, but the drama was kind of bland. Next up, sexhair. #amagamiss

Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Now I want to see Air TV again…
Awesome again! KyoAni sure pick it up well Kanon for a remake. I lose the count of how many times did I cried with Air TV and Kanon, damn it…
OK, Mai said she love Sayuri and we already know Sayuri loves Mai. The only question here is, did Mai love Yuuichi seven years ago?
My poor heart wont last long if we keep this pace.

Good ep. Amazing that Kazuya’s story isn’t even the emotional high point of the episode because Mai just spikes it in just about every scene she’s in.
KyoAni’s obsession with small details strikes again. Take a good look at Sayuri’s hands when she’s talking about how she’s able to smile again after meeting Mai…

Did Mai try to put the sword through herself in the old series? I thought that was crazy.

No, I don’t think so. In fact, I think Mai’s arc in the old series wasn’t even developed properly, much less having Mai doing this as well..

Yeah, I remember everyone else’s story except Mai’s. Flashback of a girl with bunn ears…then that’s it…

In Toei’s version of Kanon, Mai did attempt to stake herself with her sword, but Sayuri stopped her.
Out of all the girls, Mai’s arc got shafted the worst in Kanon(2002), so it is to their credit that it was still touching, if incredibly incomplete. Hopefully… KyoAni will give due justice to Mai’s arc in this version, because I still rate it as the best arc from Kanon.
Although… there are already signs that KyoAni will leave it incomplete as well. :( This is because Mai’s arc is very intricately complex, and some of the threads have been broken already.
Cheers.

Damn it! That’s why I hate so much adaptations half-way done.
At least Mai’s arc here will last 5 or 6 episodes (6 ill be justice for her). To compensate that, KyoAni give us a few details that TOEI bastards didn’t, like Sayuri’s past and, I think, the meaning of Pachabel’s Canon (d-dur).
Damn, only 10 more episodes…
