Asrialys has a good point. Anime in Japan is quite a big industry, especially with the boom in recent years.

One thing that is good about anime that Asrialys has rightfully pointed out is that they end after a decent length with the exception of a few shows. It makes it easy to plan on what and when to watch.

Oh well, another 4 months before Spring arrives and we either die from anime overload or bash the number of horrendous shows :).

Well, anime in Japan is not just simply cartoons, but just as much of a thing as regular live-action shows. In America (or elsewhere?), that's not so much the case. Also, hardly anything ever ends in America. They just keep going and going and going until they either run out of money, they get cancelled, or they think 10+ seasons is a decent length. Well, Japan has their Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, and whatever too. And since most anime shows do end after a number of episodes (like 12, 13, 26, etc.), they bring in a new show to take its place.

Well, that's what I think anyway.

I'd prefer for animes to be higher in quality and length than having a ridiculous quantity of medicore shows. It's just diluting the whole genre. I'm sad now.

You know, I guess we (or at least those who can't understand Japanese well enough) got to keep in mind that about half or less of those will actually be subbed by groups. I don't think there are that many project-finishing groups out there to take on most of those shows. Of course there were a few well-known groups that opted not to take part in the current season, but that's still just a few. There are groups like Shinsen that overload, but 70+ is still a lot.

So I gotta study up on my very limited Japanese and find raws. lol

I'm going to go by a small selection from next season's shows, then see where it goes from there. I've already got a few on my list: an anime adaptation of Nodame Cantabile (with Kawasumi Ayako as the unhygienic Nodam Megumi, and Tomokazu Seki as the proud Chiaki), Reideen (a remake ala RahXephon of the classic Yuusha Raideen SR anime), Le Miserables (World Masterpiece Theatre returns with V. Hugo's novel), and Murder Princess.
