This episode sure brings back too many memories from the past…

I was twenty (I’m twenty two now) when the original Kanon reach me. Oh men, my tears didn’t stop for a while when Makoto disappeared meanwhile Yuuichi piggy-backed her to Scenic Hill. That scene broke my heart for a while, those were good times… good times indeed.

Two and a half years later, KyoAni has done something more beautiful than his original. Since episode eight, those people who never saw the first one, already knew that Makoto would leave, one way or another, and then in episode nine everybody knew that her leave would be sad. I believe for us, who watch and enjoyed the original, felt a little weird with this… I mean, how Yuuichi takes care of her, his way of thinking, everything…

Even now I feel sad. You wonder why? I’ll tell you…
As on a ferry tale, a happy ending will be waiting for you… but then, you came back to reality (inside that fantasy) and wake up from that beautiful dream.

Fourteen episodes more to go… I don’t know if my heart will last until the end… I wish, no; wishing is wrong, I hope… I hope I can last…

Pretty much what happened in her 'best' ending in the original game. In retrospect, the choice of a slightly more ambivalent, happy-ish conclusion to the arc was the only one the story could really sustain; Makoto's story coming before any of the others, the sad conclusion everyone seemed to expect would have placed too much strain on Yuuichi (and the audience) to expect him to continue with the other girls as normal without a lengthy grieving period.

Dave, I don't think so... they only show us what wish Yuuichi will choose over everything else...that spring that never comes for her... that eternity that never reaches her... another chance to wbe with her...

KyoAni knows how to do it's job... sniff sniff

One more tissue onegai...

Indeed, I was expecting this episode to be much more harsh on my emotions, but it wasn't nearly as sad as I thought it'd be.
Eps 7-9 made me cry at least a little at the end of the episodes, but strangely, that didn't happen during episode 10.
I liked the way how KyoAni handled the end of this arc, with even a small hint at a possible comeback and happy end for Makoto, although I must say I damned them to hell at first for finishing with a cliffhanger and leaving me stranded for a week(after that I kept punching the cushions in the couch for about a minute... ;) ).

Well... sayorana Makoto...

I really liked this episode, I know wasn't as sad as I believe it would be, but her last moments beside Yuuichi were really touching, at least for me.

Amane play her role as Yuuichi's guide and did everything she could after living the same experience... KyoAni... thanks for the Melancholy of Yuuichi Aizawa...

>>> Strangely, not as tear-jerking as I thought it would be…

The problem is that Makoto died off screen between the last episode and this one. The girl who followed Yuuichi around in this episode was no longer Makoto. Rather, she was an old dog who happened to be in Makoto's body.

What we saw in this episode was that old dog living its last days. Still a sad scene, but not nearly as sad as having to actually watch Makoto die would have been.

This arc left me feeling kind of blah, like it didn't amount to anything. I think it would have been better if more focus had been placed on Amano - after this episode I am tempted to say that this arc is really all about her, rahter than Makoto.

>>> No wonder people are demanding for a Amano arc XD.

I, myself, was more attracted to Amano compared to Makoto.
