Haruhi 2nd Season News

Moon Phase reports that the second season of Haruhi (long believed to exist and only needing confirmation) will debut in the Fall of 2007, instead of in 2008 as planned. This is, of course, good news for all of us Haruhiists. Stay tuned for official confirmation.

Feena Drama

Yoakena

While some people have seemed to have given up on Yoakena, I somehow find myself liking the show as it keeps on progressing, even if the main plot point of the story is the cliched “royalty falls in love with commoner from opposing kingdom” type. Perhaps it’s just my nostalgic self longing for this old and well-used genre as I can lie down and enjoy the ensuing drama.

Make no doubts, Yoakena is solidly going along the Feena path, which of course is the main point of the show and it’s doing it well. Tatsuya as the male lead one of the better harem masters I’ve seen (though calling him a harem master is kinda wrong since he’s only interested in Feena actually). Male harem leads should be kinda like him, not too wimpy yet not too gar (like Kyon’ichi). I really find the chemistry that’s blossoming between him and Feena fun to watch. ’sides, he’s a guy I wouldn’t mind respecting as a King :).

The rest of the cast have their own things going on too, though not much focus is being given to them. Mai and Mia definitely are sisters separated at birth, along with Natsuki too. I /r/ more of Sayaka and Karen too. I just love the Setsuna-ish vibes that are coming from Karen ;). Also, I have to say Jun is really playing out his “pierrot” role very well. Keep up with the chibiness too :)!

Setsuna kakkoii~~!

Negima?!

Ohime-sama dakko~~

I need to constantly remind myself that Negima?! isn’t Negima!. There are a few things here and there in the series I do not agree about, but one thing I must say stands out is the awesomeness of the fight scenes, when SHAFT really gets serious. Setsuna really made this episode for me. Even Secchan Konoka had a show of her powers with the chopsticks, but I much prefer her as the healer/maiden-in-distress role :). Also looks like they combined a bit of Yue’s power in to Nodoka. Asuna’s sword is much bigger than her manga incarnation.

Well… I still have to get used to the weirdness of SHAFT’s humour, though I really love their updated parodies. Doesn’t this look remotely familiar? Didn’t spot anything else for a while now. And what is with the Chupacabra mania in Negima?! ?? :P

Kanon is a…

Kanon 2006

Nayuki showcasing her techniques to Kyon’ichi.

.. showcase of Kyon’ichi’s awesomeness. I swear… this episode felt a lot more longer than the 24 minutes it’s supposed to be. It’s a good sign in any case, since it means the show was so damn good I totally forgot about time.

I must express my admiration to the script writers of Kanon, for being so damn good with the lines, especially Kyon’ichi’s ones. It’s really tailor-made for the awesomeness that is Sugita Tomokazu. For example…

Yuiichi: Yaa… I’m sorry. I was thinking too much that I didn’t notice that you were in the bath… since I’m already here, might as well join you in the bath as well…

Yuiichi: Approved!
Sayuri: For what?
Yuiichi: To become my bride!

Ayu: Akiko-san is good at cooking, isn’t she.
Yuiichi: You should try her special jam… you’ll experience a taste that’s not from this world.
Ayu: (giggles).. really?!

… heh XD. Just awesome.

His caring side is also shown in this episode too, when he catches Makoto trying to pull a prank on him again and sends her back to bed since she’s having a cold. Btw… Makoto’s sneezes are just..too… cute…

Speaking of which, doesn’t the plot feel like it’s advancing quite fast? Mai’s already giving out the cryptic hint to Kyon’ichi about Makoto needing him soon. And Ayu’s starting monologues are already getting more and more clearer. Makes me wonder if they’re really going for 26 episodes. Anyways…. 1 more week to wait for the next episode.. uguuu~~~~ ._.

Deserted Island Fun

Yoakena

Sayaka x Karen 4TW

The customary beach episode and the group gets stranded on a “deserted” island for 3 days. In the meantime, Tatsuya teaches Feena-sama how to swim (which she masters in 3 days) and he learns that he met Feena-sama before as a child for one night, which is the basis of his interest towards the Moon as he promised to go find her there (BTW, why does _shouta_ Tatsuya sound more mature?). As for the rest, poor Jin gets his pay docked even more, the _san-shimai_ of Natsuki, Mai and Mia didn’t get much air time, while Sayaka getting drunk and all lovey-dovey over Karen was the show-stealer of the episode. Not a bad episode.

Only thing I can gripe about is the patchy quality of the art. Not as bad as episode 3 but quite inconsistent, really. Doumo really needs to beef up their QC’ing.
