Mikuru vs Yuki Afternoon Update

Mikuru

5 hours in GIMP.

This round is definitely turning to be the weirdest round ever, with all the Haruhi votes and such.

On last estimate, the ratio of votes is almost 1:1:1, with Haruhi leading slightly, apprarently. Even more bizarre are the votes for Kyon and his imouto, the ENOZ girls, and also from what I saw, someone actually voted for Shinn Asuka, XD (look at post 727 in the current thread).

So here, I’m making an impassionate plea to those voting for Haruhi-sama…. PLEASE GIVE YOUR VOTES TO POOR MIKURU-RIN!

Killer Jams

Kanon 2006

This _is_ jam, isnt it?

Poor… poor Kyon’ichi. _Hountou ni taihen desu…_

Y’know.. if Kanon continues to be as awesome as it is for now…. I might not be able to watch any more anime….

So, Kyon’ichi no Yuutsu.. I mean, Kanon continues on with more awesomeness, ranging from Akiko’s killer jams, very blatant references and lots and lots of _kuinige_-loli-torpedoing (uguuuuuuuuuu~~~~~~~~~).

I have to say, KyoAni *loves* their references. I spotted no less than 3 references to SuzuHaru, a minor Elfen Lied one and I’m preeeetty sure there some I did not catch. Seriously, Kyon’ichi saying “If there are introductions that are not normal, I’d like to see it them.”, ” I’m just an ordinary transfer student.” and his self-narration habit….. if it’s not a reference, then I don’t know what is. I’ll have to give top marks to Kyo Ani for actually timing them so nicely with the situation. Sugita Tomakazu is definitely at his best element here, his style of cynical sarcasm never ever fails to make me gay for him.

Then…. the girls provided a *lot* of laughs today, ranging from Nayuki’s inability to wake up in the morning even with a mountain of alarms (I had to restrain from making a GIF of Kyon’ichi shaking her awake, anyone felt that was strangely erotic?) to Ayu’s missed “torpedo” and bumping in to a tree to kitsune-ko’s “revenge”(Auuu~~~… is it me or is there too many onomatopoeias being used here?!) on Kyon’ichi. Not only that, Kaori and Porter-boy were freakingly funny as getting to see Ayako-sama playing the mischievious type is heaven-sent, /r/ short OVA on them. Hell.. even the next episode preview had me laughing out loud all the way to the end, with kitsune-ko the main cause. I find myself lucky that police aren’t knocking on my door now to arrest me for disturbing the peace.

So far so good, I’m looking extremely forward to next week. Kanon 2006 is definitely infinitely better than the first hotchpotch that was Kanon 2002. Again, if Kyo Ani continues to be this good… I might have to give up normal anime watching soon.

Go Go Mikuru!

Mikuru vs Yuki

Epic.

Today marks another landmark battle in this year’s Saimoe tournament, already in full swing with a multiple number of high profile shocks and surprises marked with a dash of fake votes and multi-voting, as Asahina “Moé” Mikuru fights head on with Nagato “Godslayer” Yuki.

There is… no doubt on who I must support for this round, which is of course, our beloved Mikuru-rin! Go Go Mikuru-rin! Ganbatte Mikuru-rin! Yuki ni makenaide!

Mikuru-rin!

Mikuru-rin 4TW!

Maho?!

Maho?!

Maho?!

I must say, Negima?! is definitely the most visually rich anime this season, hands down. Akiyuki Shinbo’s crazy touch really does give a very very fresh feel to the show.He really likes his “multiple panels” and random shots of the settings while character is explaning approach. Funniest must be the attendance sheet talk amongst the characters too.

There’s also craploads of visual cues in almost every frame, ranging from parodies to downright references, like the Nazca Lines and South Park… and those are just the more blatant ones too. The one I liked the most is the “Maho?!” reference, since I had some fun personal experience about it with a friend (P.S. Himeko is awesome.). Not to forgot the falling basins of Tsukuyomi as well ;). I really admire the fansubbers who are doing this, if they can get all the references right. Looks like subs will be slow though :P.

SHAFT also seems to be putting the story on a fast-forward pace that’s comfortable enough for me, but it may feel awkward for any first timers to the Negima series. Quite a few plot points are put in that might not be known to first timers, like the “message” that Chizuru sends to Natsumi, although I can’t understand what is being said… but I’m pretty sure it’s…”exciting”. Eva seems to be more of a brat in this continuity, while Takamichi plays a more active role this time round (plus being more GAR as well).

One more thing to add… the OP is absolutely crazy as well. Reminds me of the PPD OP sequences. The ED is kinda nice as well. As for the Baka Rangers special? Kawai-sou no Makie desu :P.

Fap Fap Feena e Youkoso!

Feena

Fall Fall Feena

Yes, I have succumbed to the temptations and now become a member of the Fap Fap Feena club, literally falling in love on her, and how more appropriate than to watch this show on the Mid-Autumn Festival as well. I was suprised with the first 5 minutes though, the Oedipus War recap thingy kinda felt like one of Gundam SEED Destiny’s flashback episodes, LOL.

Let’s see what’s so awesome about Yoakena. Character thoughts time!

Hmm.., first off, harem leader Tatsuya isn’t a wimp, and he’s quite interesting, with his “nose-pinching” habit as well. But remember, nose-pinching the wrong people might result in death! Next, his onee-san, Sayaka is the stereotypical, gentle but “dangerous” onee-sama type, while his imouto, Mai-chan is quite the mature type. Natsuki is your typical tsunderekko osananajimi and her brother Jin, is the weird and lecherous type that always gets the bashing.

Feena ojou-sama is awesome, with the ojou-sama air around her, but we still get glimpses of her cute side in this episode. Man… she was desiring that nose-pinch, baybeh! Hitomi Nabatame does a fine job of voicing her(note that she voiced another lunar princess, Arcueid in Tsukihime), although with Feena’s ojou-sama air around her, I can’t stop imagining Ayako-sama’s voice suddenly coming from her. Really a bad thing for me to think like that of her.

So far, I’m finding Yoakena pretty likable, and not just for Feena ojou-sama, but the other characters have their awesome moments as well. This will truly be an enjoyable season, I hope.

UGUUUUU~~~~~

Kanon

Awesome. Kyoto Animation doesn’t disappoint.

A very nice relaxing first episode for Kanon, since they have 24 episodes to work with, this means 23 more episodes of Uguu-ness for the win. Yui Horie is definitely much more awesome as Ayu this time, as she has had an extra 4 years of experience to call upon. The rest of the seiyuus are also as I remember them from last time.

Anyways, I must add, Akiko is awesome and is right now a hot contender for MILF of the year. Nayuki is… well, Nayuki, and Ayako Kawasumi x Seki Tomokazu pairing is the win. I also must say I think I’m turning bi too, man, Sugita Tomokazu is so awesome as Yuiichi, although I still can’t shake off his Kyon-kun image in my head. Watching Yuiichi somewhat feels like watching Kyon-kun getting his wish to get away from Haruhi and lands himself in a harem setting.

Anyways, trap season seems to be in full swing soon. I do hope I don’t descend more and more in to immorality.

Negima!? gets SHAFTed…

Negima?!

… GOOD!

Oh man, oh man, oh man, oh man…. watching Negima?! made me shed tears of happiness. It was Just. That. Awesome. Akamatsu-sensei fans rejoice! Seems like SHAFT gave it their full treatment too. I could see a lot of their trademarks around the show.

First off, a lot of the early “character introduction” parts were cut off, and the story jumps straight in to the Eva arc, with Makie’s attack occuring near the beginning of the episode. Also, Eva’s been given more screen time in the form of the 1st 5 minutes showcasing her battle with the Thousand Master that some how reminds me of Tsukoyomi’s beginning too. Fine and dandy by me, and in fact, it looks much more amazingly cooler this way.

Next, character design and animation does not disappoint and in following their traditions, almost none of the frames contain recycled footage. God, I can see Negima?! turning in to the next Pani Poni Dash in terms of fansubbing hardness. The infamous blackboard keeps changing the words every time they cycle through it and for those observant enough, should notice Zazie’s multitude of tricks with every frame change.

Then a few more extras that I notice is the awesomeness that is Mugihito becoming the Narrator. God, only a few others can hope to match up to his legendaryness, maybe only Keroro’s Narrator is equal with him. Plus, it seems the magic scenes will be animated with extreme flourish, seeing the simple spell being casted today. God I’m so looking forward to next week.

Oh well, enough for now.Man… what the hell was with the Baka Rangers scene at the end, I almost choked on my drink. And man… Takamichi is GAR in Negima!?
