Rebuild of Evangelion Update

From Anime News Service:

10-19-06 (9:29AM EDT)—- World Exclusive: Rebuild Of Evangelion Updates

Tonight we met up with Evangelion Producer Toshimichi Ootsuki in Akihabara. According to Ootsuki-san the “contents” for the “1st part” of the new Rebuild Of Evangelion movies is now complete. The animation staff is also very close to being fully assembled. Building on past hints (the cover image of the October, 2006 issue of Newtype Magazine) Kaworu Nagisa and Rei Ayanami will be central characters in this new story. The theme of the “first part” movie will feature the characters in a school setting prior to the arrival of the angels.

Yay for teh Rei camp I guess….

Still… as an EVA fanboy, that side of mine is totally satisfied with the fact that more EVA will be out. Looks like the first movie will be some sort of a prequel…

A boring day at Saimoe…

(Dear God, I have no idea why am I still caring about SaiMoe ‘06? Oh wait… there’s Fate…)

And so, Fate wins her semi-final so predictably it’s not even funny. So on to the next roun…. what? The results? Ok, fine… here:

Final Result:

Total: 2108 votes casted

No.1: Fate Tesstarossa@Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A’s [1309 votes (1512 votes in total, 203 fake)]
No.2: Eruru@Utawarerumono [799 votes(834 votes in total, 35 fake)]

So next round….

Saimoe 2006

….RIN!!! Being the only survivor left of the F/SN faction, I expect full backing of her from the F/SN faction.Inevitably though, she will lose to Fate next round, but at least, she gets in to the final 4 and can have a shot at third place, unless she meets Desu (ewwww….).

Remember… MOE, SERIOUS FUCKING BUSINESS….

Mamoru-kun ni Megadere wo Shukufuku ni

Megadere

(How to know if a new show is insta-win? When the URL for the official site is http://www.megadere.com)

I foresee a lot of new entries for the next Bounty List given the outlook of this season and Mamoru-kun has, IMHO, booked a first class ticket in to it. Not even 3 minutes in to the show and he already gets confessed to by the school’s most popular girl.

Yes, so the show starts with shouta-kun getting confessed to by the school’s most popular (and strongest) girl, mega-tsundere Takasu Ayako, who possesses some form of magical powers called Beatrice allowing her to apparently snipe down American spy sats and blow up mountains with relative ease. Pretty interesting.

Also she’s apparently the coolest and scariest girl in school, thanks to no part to her powers and her usual behavior, leading her to hold down the Security-in-Charge position in the Student Council, of which her tsun- part comes in to play.

So following the First Law of Tsundere-ness, where every “tsun” side has an equal and opposite “dere” side, Ayako possess a very cute dere-dere side, which she shows only to our (overtly) lucky shouta-kun. Not to mention that since being mega-tsun makes her mega-dere as well…. oh…. dear.. god… /me nosebleeds.

The other Student Council members seem to be quite “busybody” people too, comprising of president Koizum.. Sudo Maya, maki-maki Shione (Noto Mamiko in a non-Noto Mamiko role, yay!) and a few others.

Well, so far it seems my moé otaku side will be able to enjoy this show, hopefully it won’t disappoint. This season is really a bit too nourishing for my inner moé fanboy, really.

Killing me softly with uguuu~~’s

Kanon 2006

Uguuuuuuu~~~

Kyon’ichi totally reduced me to a writhing mass, laughing like mad on the floor this episode. Sugita Tomokazu is made of so much win, I can’t put it in words.

Come to think of it, each episode of Kanon is going to corrupt my brain… not only “uguu~~” and “auu~~” are stuck in my head now, Makoto’s “Yatta yatta yattta yatta~~” chant is stuck too. I’m thinking of making them in to SMS tones ORZ.

Asuna, pwning vampires with shoes since 2007.

Negima?!

Whoops, my hand slipped.(PWNED!)

Oh man, this episode really makes me realise the appropriateness of the “*Negima?!*” title, mostly the ‘?!’ part.

Ups:

* Asuna, pwning Eva with shoes and boats.
* Fucking. Awesome. Magical fights.
* Secchan.

Downs:

* Eva arc finished so fast?
* Asuna’s mahou shoujo transformation (please go Nanoha style for the rest of the series.)
* Negi never showing off his magical battle powers. Seriously. Eva was finally pwned by Kamo-kun, like.. “LAWL”.
* 4:3 raws.

Well, it seems that SHAFT is wrapping up the Eva Arc fast so they can go in to the thick of the action, which is the Kyoto Arc, that I heard XEBEC butchered and which I luckily never watched so that I will be traumatized. Waiting for 16:9 to come out and rewatch. Asuna pwning Eva was damn awesome.

Hugh Heffner holds Suzumiya Haruhi USA Licensing

Haruhi-sama

Yeah, because he’s afraid that Kyon-kun will take over his harem.

Nah… just joking, it’s all due to the weirdness that is America, from Anime News Service:

10-18-06 (5:53AM EDT)—- What’s Holding Haruhi Suzumiya’s USA Release?

Arguably, in 2006, the top new anime which has gained the most ground in the hearts and minds of grass roots North American anime fans is Kyoto Animation and Kadokawa’s The Melancholoy Of Haruhi Suzumiya. The TV series only debuted in the spring in Japan but quickly became a viral phenomena in the English speaking world mirroring it’s rapid popularity explosion in Japan. By the time only a handful of episodes had aired and been fansubbed, if you happened to tap the pulse of online fandom you’d have every indication the property was going supernova in America. It then penetrated anime cons nationwide in the US, the American media and continued to enjoy strong support online. It’s around this time that one would expect alarm bells to be ringing in some offices in Texas and California to start making phonecalls and booking trips to Japan. A license announcement was anticipated by AX at least and certainly at one of the major anime cons of the summer. But it never came. Meanwhile fansubs saturate file sharing networks on the internet and the whole series shows up on YOUTUBE.

So What’s the hold up? There are several continuities of thought. Firstly, these days when an anime reaches the buzz level of a show like Haruhi you can bet several companies will be locked into a bidding contest for a period of time. A monetary figure is eventually put on the table that can’t be surpassed by the others and that company gets the license. It’s very possible this process could be going on right now. It’s also been postulated that licensing Haruhi Suzumiya for the American market could come with a snag…….. in a bunny girl outfit. Some are saying it may be very difficult to work around the issue of a major character whose trademark sexy bunny costume appearance is litteraly already trademarked in the United States and other countries as well. To the uninitiated, Hugh Hefner’s Playboy empire happens to own the registered trademark to the traditional bunny girl costume in America. Acquiring permission to use the bunny image is admittedly what kept Gainax’s American division General Products USA from selling the Daicon animation shorts there in 1989 (although it’s interesting that Otaku No Video and even more recently, the videogame Dragon Quest 8 both feature bunny girls and did make it to release in the market). It’s possible the costume frames could be retouched (or completely replaced with something new) as was done for US release Dirty Pair manga several years ago. In that case, Kei and Yuri ended up with cocktail-waitress dresses. For Haruhi, this kind of compromise sounds even more likely if one takes into account the fact that the entire TV series is right now being massively retouched with over 1,000 pieces of animation being added (including new scenes, props etc..) in Japan for the DVD release. It would make sense that new scenes sans bunny girls could be easily created with the artists already in the studio at this time churning out the new material. Perhaps when this process is complete international licensing activities and releases can commence.

Negima 150 - Negi dies?!

Negima

Well… that is a good way of resolving things.

OK, nah, just kidding. Who’d like to see our _favourite_ tragic-past, shouta harem master die so fast? Of course, no one right… right?! Anyways, I was going to give up hope on new releases but I’ll forgive them thanks to that.

Yappari… onna no ko wa kowai….

Otoboku

Warning: Fangirlism may cause chibiness.

Yeah… Otoboku is definitely yuri for guys, at least for me that is… I can never hope to sit it out alive through either Marimite or IchiPanniku… they take their yuri too seriously for my own liking.

As some have pointed out, Otoboku is awesome not only because of Yui Horie, but also because it doesn’t take itself too seriously. I have always liked this type of shows, as it provides maximum entertainment with minimum commitment. What I love about Otoboku is the whole absurd premise, the over-the-top chibiness-inducing fangirlism, the straightforward style of conflicts (Mariya vs Seitokaichou), Shion-sama’s super-sensitive Trap Radar and her combo with Mariya, not forgetting androgynous Yui Horie as well.

Remember people, fap first worry later(ThePaper©), k!

P.S. Fapping does not cause STD’s.

Fap first worry later.

Otoboku

I had just finished watching Otoboku’s first episode and despite the whole “all-girls” school setting, which I have never liked before, I find myself interested in watching more Otoboku.

This is mostly because of Mizuho, who’s being voiced by the legendary Horie-sama, being “oh-so-faptastic” to me. Admitedly, I was scared to acknowledge that fact at first… but after a motivational talk by ThePaper in #animenano about his philosophy of “Fap first worry later.”, I have finally decided to come out of my shell and proudly admit the fact.So from now on, no matter who is it, if I find him/her hawt, I’ll just fap first and worry about whether it’s a him or her later. Ahh… suddenly life has become so much more fun.
