[...] While the consensus about Negima!? has been mostly positive, I kept thinking it was just me, so I’m glad I’m not the only person on the fence about this. For the record, I liked Pani Poni Dash, but does that necessarily work here? Outside of the nitty-gritty (i.e., the different classroom design, Chamo-kun with Negi from the get-go), this series doesn’t feel like Negima. Yes, the animation quality far exceeds the predecessor, but the Akamatsu feel isn’t fully there. In terms of ASX’s main points: [...]

Man.. there's tons of other references I'm sure. Who's subbing Negima has better do a good job.

And grabbing the widescreen version now, for my second run.

>>SHAFT version’s going to focus on the shounen-combat aspect of Negima, so the fanservice you’ll be seeing won’t be as stellar(?) as the other one or the manga.

I say the fanservice is much better left as the manga's best point. Being a guy, watching all those extremely cool action scenes being animated is a much bigger plus for me. Negima's action ranks only second to the fanservice in terms of awesomeness in the manga.

>>Noticed the azumanga reference on it?

Of course!

Oh man... one week for every episode... one week for every episode...

Well, I know that Takamichi's pretty adult but... white hair? (And yes, he DOES reek of GAR at the moment.)

GAR = 4chan term for ubercool manliness, See: Archer from Fate stay night

Oh, and do not that the SHAFT version's going to focus on the shounen-combat aspect of Negima, so the fanservice you'll be seeing won't be as stellar(?) as the other one or the manga. Still good in my book.

Tokytotosho does have it, but it's name is in Japanese...

Man, I wasn't sure whether they'd actually pull this show off, but now I have yet another thing I need to watch... this season is going to kill me.
