The 'there is no spoon' thing came about because one person was trying to explain to Neo that the spoon was a thing of the mind, and something whose existence could be reshaped or negated by one's will. So the "there is no spoon" reference is a direct ripoff of the quote where the speech about the mind controlling the spoon is concerned. I do watch some per se, but I don't follow them religiously. Only recently, I just watched for the first time, the Star Wars original trilogy.
