Kuro-Shiro you don't have to tell me all that. It's what I have been saying since the very beginning all over the place.

>>Where’s the “Is Hard Gay For” link? :D

Shop it in :).

Muey: Yeah, Aaeru's appeal for me lies in the really fresh take that the creators have took on in portraying her. Her brashness never felt annoying or irritating at any time, and they've managed to kept her that way for most of the show.

One more thing, I must say I've noticed about Simoun, all the characters are arguably given fair exposure, without one being too overtly portrayed as the main. Even Aaeru, who's supposed to the main character, doesn't appear all the time. They seemed to have balanced everyone's airtime to the max.

Well if Aaeru appeals to you then the more power to you. Personally I have had and still has too many trunderes, ojosamas, and sweeps the world into their wake type girls to find those amusing anymore.

Aeru's kind of hard to cope with/sympathize at times, but I do give super props for her creators - They've got a distinct take on the brashness and her overbearing positivism that separates her from being just another usual energetic genki tomboy character.
The more fresh take makes her a much more of an alluring character, even if I did find her personality somewhat queer (or rather, couldn't make heads or tails of it) at the start.

Kurogane: I remember the early adverts and net-blurb suggesting it was a yuri series, based on how they powered up the Simouns, and how the world consisted of nothing BUT females.. at least until they got old enough to choose a gender at the springs. The show's moved from slow and kinda boring to a more serious sci-fi setting after the first 7 or so eps, and has kept up the quality since then... for the most part. And, unlike Strawberry Panic, the animation's pretty well done here.

Plus, as you've noted, the setting is at least visually unique, unlike SP which is kinda like a low-budget version of Maria-sama ga Miteru.

Err..whoops, left out a punctuation. The link works now. Sorry for the technical errors.

Zzz..., the otaku dream is a very dangerous concept to place your happiness on. For instance, tsundere's in real life are much much more blunt.

Haesslich, seriously speaking, up to now, I'm not thinking of Simoun as a yuri series, more of a unique sci-fi world setting series instead. The yuri in Simoun isn't too overt for me, which is why it's much more digestable than Ichigo Panikku. Seriously speaking, I find IchiPanikku's type of yuri to be scary.

The odd part is that for a yuri series, there's been more incidents of BL or potential BL than yuri, from what I've seen. :D And it's also animated well, unlike Strawberry Panic.

Yeah, it's amusing to see where things have gone and how they stand in contrast to all that now :p.

If one'd have the creative energy it'd be fun to conjure an unpdated version with the situation from the final-curtain episode (once it airs), though I don't think it'd be as amusing since making wisecracks about full-circle characters is a good deal harder & takes way more creativity ;).
