In a year with SHnY and Honey & Clover II, it’s a close-run thing, but depending on the final episode, Simoun really could be the best anime of the year for me. It is ten times as mature, sophisticated and interesting as most anime. In spite of entertaining weirdnesses like the pre-flight kiss and the Barbarella flight suits. Despite their unusual society and biology, the characters are all real, deep people with subtle feelings, and the SF aspects are at least equal to Noein. And Aaeru is a wonderful character. Her bullishness has charm and is not negative in any way. She definitely has inner grace. I’m watching for her seiyuu, NIINO Michi in a major role in Ayakashi Ayashi this fall (typecast as a girl who dresses like a boy).

Nah, I think the reason you don’t think Aaeru’s inconsiderate is probably because you haven’t seen episode 13 yet… Without wanting to spoil it, let’s just say that she manages possibly the most staggering jaws-on-the-floor social faux pas in shoujo history. She’s great. :)

Simoun-Fans should be releasing episodes 1-3 in the not too distant future (we’ve finally got finished scripts for all of them), so with luck that’ll give everyone a chance to get into things more easily. There is a lot of jargon at first, but it is at least internally consistent and does make sense.

Anyway, I hope you continue to enjoy the show…

=.=.. maybe mature grace isn’t the right word, but forgive me for using that phrase.

Still, inconsiderate I won’t really say she is. At the least, she doesn’t bug me very much, compared to other characters I’ve seen. She kinda gets inconsiderate without irritating others….

… or maybe I’m just biased because of her gender.

What mature grace? Aeru has all the ‘grace’ of a bull elephant maneuvering through a egg packaging plant. She is maybe the second most inconsiderate primary character this entire season after Yano from Bokura ga Ita.

seems to be a nice show… kinda…. weeeeell i’m trying to catch up with strawberry panic o_0 but most of the time i’m not into watching anime =(

maybe its just cos the server i play is doing 2x rate, i’ve got my arin but no kooh =( (pilling up money for that)… i’ll try to finish a few series first and give simoun a try sometime later too cos theres no more space to dload anything heh =p
