Gothloli Faptime Show fails…

Immediately after episode 2, CRS has really experienced a downward spiralling trend in good and a very upward, almost horizontal trend to suckiness. I’m too lazy to type, but I’ll post some Anonymous truth.

>> Anonymous 08/16/06(Wed)11:58 No.851577

this episode made me realise how boring the animation and directing is. you have all the good elements there, good designs, characters, music, but it just doesnt flow well

>> Anonymous 08/16/06(Wed)12:00 No.851580

I know what you mean!
That it has all the right ingredients makes the failure even more frustrating…

Quoted for truth.

>> Anonymous 08/16/06(Wed)13:02 No.851721

Has Chelsea died yet? I stopped watching the show beyond episode 2 because of her.

Angelica and Oppai-chan should really be the main characters instead…

>> Anonymous 08/16/06(Wed)14:23 No.852001

I really don’t see why they had Franca escape. It would have kept some tension in the plot. Mister makes a big deal about a promise, but the fact is he didn’t do a thing to rescue her, she got out on her own, albeit ridiculously.

It is really mindboggling how close and yet so far this anime is to being awesome. I’ll probably keep watching, but without much hope.

>> Anonymous 08/16/06(Wed)14:31 No.852048

Yeah, I think that was the moment absolutely all tension in this show was destroyed. We spend most of the episode setting up this situation and Deus Ex Machina ends it in thirty fucking seconds. And we all know that Mister isn’t going to die from his wounds because he’s got major Plot Armor; if he DOES die it’s going to be in the final episode and I doubt they’ll even do that.

ufotable fails it when they’re not sticking with what they’re good at – batshit insane comedy.

>> Anonymous 08/16/06(Wed)15:41 No.852403

Plot armor is when you can hijack a fighter plane ( in flight ) have a passenger on your lap use foot pedals and a stick with no seat restrains at all to pull anime only g-turns wile a couple of thousand rounds miss you then you toss one short burst and boom one enemy dies.. two.. three… THEN when it is convenient for the plot your wounded and can only watch the bad guy ramble on about their plot for universal domination…

Again, Anonymous speaks the truth and nothing but the truth.

When Katana said “Wow, we have good timing!”, that was the biggest understatement of the year.

Fucking seconded.

ufotable, please don’t let this go on =.=….

And to think that more people are subbing this than they are even shows like Chokotto Sister or Simoun, much less ARIA the Natural…

When I watched ep 1, it was fun, maybe because Angelica appeared to be the main focus but it went from fun fest to snooze fest in one episode. I thought I was the only one who thought it was boring.

I wasn’t even going to watch episode one, but I was told it was amusingly awful, so I thought “what the hell” and gave it a try. Unfortunately, it turned out that only the ‘awful’ part of that statement was correct, so after 25 minutes of pain, I erased all traces of it from my hard drive.

Chokotto Sister is as much of a train wreck as CRS is. It’s entirely unfaithful to the manga and Chokotto comes of as a bumbling childish moron as opposed to the naive imouto siscon she is in the manga. The characters in the manga were so much more likeable instead of the Maison Ikkoku ripoff that the anime started out as, and what the hell is the old apartment manager even fracking doing there in the first place? Even though the first episode was raising huge red warning flags, I boldly sat through the second episode only because the manga is So Damned Good(tm).

Ah… yes… Chocosis…. what happened to it? I almost forgot it’s a summer show. This season is very very lacking in excitement for me. I’m currently playing more Pangya and watching House M.D. rather then anime :P.

Kotonoha needs to release more Chocosis soon…

In any other season I’d probably have dropped Chocotto by now but given the lack of contenders I’ve stuck with it for three episodes so far. Can’t say it’s great, but I’ll probably watch for as long as I can be bothered (I’m not familiar with the manga as yet).

Karura, you should give the manga a shot. Kotonoha has scanlated the first four volumes so far and it’s a fun read. The artwork is top notch and Chokotto is a *much* more lovable character here than in the anime. Also, Sakura Takeuchi really draws the fanservice well.

danbeck: It’s blundering along, but I have some hopes that they’ll recover their senses (the way Shuffle did, for example) and be able to avoid a complete disaster. It’s more hope than I have for Gothloli Ragged Show there – that one’s a complete failure, and I don’t see any hopes of salvaging it short of shooting all the writers in a public execution and starting from scratch.

Also, the fanservice in the manga’s way beyond what I’d want to put on television, especially in the first volume. Still, if they can pick up the Ayano story fast enough, we might be able to salvage the season… and given this season’s slim pickings (I’m enjoying Muteki Kanban Musume, and that has its off days/episodes), it’s one of the (sadly) better shows this year. The last two seasons have been rather disappointing, outside of H&C 2 and a few others.

Many thanks for the link, danbeck, I’ll acquire the manga now and give it a look over the weekend.

Well, from my current watchlist, the current summer shows I am watching are, in alphabetical order,

    ..) Coyote Ragtime Show
I still have faith in this.
    ..) FLAG
    Too early to make judgement.
    ..) Innocent Venus
AWESOME! Current favourite from the summer batch.
    ..) Muteki Kanban Musume
    Not award-winning, but highly entertaining.
    ..) Night Head Genesis
Has been intriguing so far. Has a promising future.
    ..) Otogi-Jushi Akazukin
    Guilty pleasure.
    ..) Zero no Tsukaima
Okay thus far, but I’ve been getting spoilt by the novels’ grander scope.

Watching the above, along with spillovers from spring and classics.

lets just make the ppl doing the gothloli show stop and give up the project to kyo-ani >=D
(i dont like kanon eitherway =p)

but i also have to agree this season start is not really atractive at all

besides watching some good shows with good background(eg H&C) or some fanservice show that were successful(eg. ZnT) it really takes a lot of effort to try out the others(also i’ve read about the other shows, but flag for an example, doesn’t work for me)

so? what’s left? what’s left here is a few shows that i’m still behind but are not that bad to watch(eg. higurashi/old stuff from 1~2 seasons ago but not that great, just ‘ok’ shows). still… they do appeal to me more than the new stuff.

maybe i should just change the watchlist and finish the last season of 24h and see jack bauer surviving again by some chuck~norian powa… ops i meant deus ex machina heh

on a side note: i still need to go through hmm quite a round of ‘episodes 1’… such as, tsuyokiss, ergoproxy(yeahold),nightheadgenesis, kemonozume, innocentvenus, bimboushimai… also… gave up on chokoto… the manga is way better(that ending is creepy)

Well, KyoAni has their strenghs but let’s not shove all to them. I’m actually interested in their Kanon remake since the first one actually had me shed some tears even if it was a bit sucky, so I’m looking forward to see how the KyoAni touch will do to me.

    >>besides watching some good shows with good background(eg H&C) or some fanservice show that were successful(eg. ZnT) it really takes a lot of effort to try out the others(also i’ve read about the other shows, but flag for an example, doesn’t work for me)

For me, most of the shows this season aren’t really the “weekly” watch type, and more of the “marathon in one shot” type. I’m interested in a few new shows of this type here and I’m waiting for them to finish before watching.

    >>gave up on chokoto… the manga is way better(that ending is creepy)

    I… somewhat agree on that.

The Chokotto ED song.. well, it meshes in with Volume 4 of the manga – and it explains just WHAT she’s been trying to do, plus the way Vol 4 of the manga ended.. well, it looks like the ED’s showing us the results, and boy they’re ugly. ;)

Ok… are you kidding me? It’s one of the most enjoyable shows I’ve seen lately… Good animation, good music, good plot, everything seems to be right and I can’t understand why you think it fails… And I don’t think anyone should expect realism from this show.

  15. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    August 21, 2006 @ 11:00 pm

Quajafrie, trust me, we’ve seen better. Well, CRS has it’s good points but it utterly fails in a lot others.Of course we’re not expecting realism in this show, c’mon, it’s anime for god’s sake, but then at the least, keep it logical. It’s just that CRS is lacking in the logic dept. a lot.

  16. Quajafrie Said,

    August 22, 2006 @ 2:27 pm

Yes, I know it’s not teh best anime ever or w/e, but it really succeeds for me. Episode 4 for example with the bank robbery, I found it one of the most enjoyable episodes I’ve seen lately, even though the biggest bank in the world wouldn’t have so stupid security systems.
