Haruhi spinoff?
Hmm… /a/ seems to be to onto something here.

Just marathoned this excellent piece of work. As a matter of fact, it’s too darned short :P.
First off… Lafiel kakkoi yo Lafiel. Yeah, I’ve totally become a fanboy of her. She’s just extremely moé by herself, and Ayako’s voice really fits her like a glove. Really love her tsunderekko-ness :).
Of course, Lafiel’s not the only factor that contributes to the excellence of this show, the really snappy dialouge of the show is incredible by itself. Everyone seems to have really really good lines somewhere. My most favourite one would be the warning signal (after a lengthy “discussion” with her XO) to the remainder of the enemy fleet after an obvious outcome sent by the captain of the Futune, the Lady Spoor, stating:
“Communications Officer, notify all units.Respect their wishes to surrender anytime. However, those who surrender after the battle has begun will travel to the capital through normal space only. To save travel time, the ship will be stripped of all space-time generators, gravity control devices and stabilizers, and there will be no crew.Prisoners will be supplied with a year’s supply of food and water. Arrival time is estimated at 49000 years. That’s all.”
…. best threat I’ve ever heard in a while. Seriously. And the banter between the main protagonists is very very enjoyable as well.
The level of detail put in to the setting is also very admirable as the original creator, Morioka Hiroyuki, not only made the Abh culture in all its detail, he also made the Abh language and alphabet as well,Baronh, based on the Japanese language. Not that I’m going to learn it anytime soon, but the level of detail is plainly visible in the anime as all the words are in Baronh.
Now, to get the rest of the series. Looking forward to the adventures of Lafiel and Jinto.
Yeah! Eva chapter finally! There’s been a lack of her recently, after the end Mahora Battle arc, due to the miscanellous School Festival attractions. But I’ll have to give it to Akamatsu-sensei, Eva gets a very high impact chapter on this one, both in the fanservice side and also the character development side.
Gainax can be sometimes very scary.
Not more than a few days back when the subbed Top wo Nerae! 2 05 was released, I was checking out for their site for the release date for 06, only to be disappointed for the utter lack of news.
But only today, they have just announced the release date for the last episode, on the 25th of August. Oh… how I await with joy. Still a full 3 months away, but at least now I have a date to expect :). Wonder how will Gainax end this and judging from the teasers on the site, looks like there will be a lot of unexpected events in store for us.

Chronologically episode 4, this episode majorly wins for one factor, the appearance of adult Mikuru-run. I was struggling to keep myself sane throughout the 5 minutes she appeared. God.. she deserves more airtime, dammit. /r/ more adult Mikuru and lolfang-tan!!!!!!
For once, now, after this episode, I am throughly irritated by the episode jumps, most notably because of the last week’s episode. Seriously, they really should’ve kept that in chronological order… but then, none of the episodes so far are, so I guess KyoAni’s sticking to this thing. One of the main problems of the jumps that I notice now is the fact that character development (especially for those who haven’t read the novels) are pretty much messed up, leading in people getting very confused. Well, at the least it’s easy to put them back into chronological order later on, no thanks to the format of the series.
Well.. apart from adult Mikuru-run this episode, the infamous Asakura assasination attempt is in this episode, and the Yuki fans finally get what they have been waiting for the past 4-5 weeks or so. Too bad the SQL seems a bit toned down, but I’m sure if someone actually cuts out the audio of Nagato’s chanting and slows it down, perhaps some legible SQL or even some Easter Eggs might appear. I do wonder, if that would be so, KyoAni’s reputation makes it seem unlikely they’re just going to use gibberish.
Moments of enjoyment:
- Adult Mikuru showing Kyon the birthmark.
- Adult Mikuru knocking her head.
- Adult Mikuru reminscing about her meido fuku.
- Adult Mikuru trying to give Kyon a kiss but stops at the last moment, warning him not to think of her too much
- Adult Mikuru answering Kyon’s question of her age, with the sexiest way of saying “Kinsoku jikou desu~~”. I swore I had at least 3 haruhi…or should I say, mikurugasms with that.
- Nagato’s fight with Asakura, and damn, she really is efficient. Those “saves” must hurt, eh Kyon. Well better than being impaled by countless metal spikes.
- …. can’t think of anything else, so continue for screencaps of the goddess Mikuru-run.
Lunar has just released the 5th episode of Top wo Nerae! 2. Go get it **NOW**! Gainax really has the genius touch. I felt like I was watching this the first time all over again. They need to announce episode 6 soon, real soon.
Remember kids, do not attempt to throw planets around, unless you have a Buster Machine along with you to clean up your mess.

Demonbane might not be the best anime this season, but it does score in one thing thus far, which is the embodiments of the grimoires in the show, notably Al-Azif, or better known as the Necronomicon, and the newly appeared Pnakotic Manuscripts. Not only it seems that they are freakingly cute and are made of win in their gothic lolita outfits, they also have a chibi mode that would only be matched by Shana-tan herself. In fact, /r/ Shana-tan and Al-Azif appearance together, even doujins are fine too :).
So far, I can already see future polls about it, going on the lines, “Which is your favourite grimoire? A. Al-Azif B. Pnakotic Manuscripts C. The King in Yellow(or the next grimoire to appear).”
But that aside, it does have an equal amount of fail accompanying, no less than the stereotypical weak-ass protagonist that actually has hidden powers and learns to use them over the course of the show. The mecha CG is also not really to my liking and it really seems to be made to appeal for the fanboys.
I did liked the concept of seeing Kuro in his mecha getting beaten up nicely by the Last Boss who appeared in this episode (which I honestly thought that he will not be named), but the execution does leave much to desire. Meh, maybe I’m just a bit too picky :P.
Still.. I guess I’ll keep on with Demonbane, no thanks to the winnage of the characters, or more precisely the character designs (damn… gothloli *tsunderekko* madousho’s with cute chibi modes… how the hell you’re gonna resist that?). Hope the story does get better later on.
With such impeccable timing, Hung of BasugasuBakuhatsu has launched his new anime blog aggregator, AnimeNano, with some useful features such as customizing your own feed list. Credits to him :).
Well… back to marathoning the 3rd season of CCS :).
EDIT: Silly of me, forgot to put in the URL’s. BTW, Sukuran 06 was incredible.

Taking a little break after marathoning the 1st and 2nd seasons of CCS, I watched Higurashi episode eight. Recently, it seems like I’m not in the mood to watch raws or the latest shows, so that’s why I was late in catching this episode.
Anyhow… the brutality factor just got upped with this episode with the torture devices and Mion was seriously even more scarier that Rena was in the Onikakushi-hen. As pointed out by some, Rena hasn’t even killed anyone(yet!) but Mion has racked up quite the death toll in this arc, admitting to not only the murders of Rika-chan, Satoko-chan, Photographer-san but also the rest of the earlier murders.
Rena, meanwhile, surprises me by being the most level-headed one this arc, with her detective skills and the slap she gave to Keiichi. It also seems though that she had known that Mion was the murderer all along, yet still trusted her enough to leave her alone with Keiichi. Too bad she shot down the chance to see Mion’s “demon” :P.
But, seriously, girls can be quite scary as proven by Mion’s demon’s trigger of Keiichi giving the doll to Rena earlier instead of her. The supernatural also seems to be very involved this arc, with the closure scenes of Rena. Up to the end, I had really thought that Mion was single-handedly responsible for the murders, but the closure totally turned that upside-down. I’m very very impressed now, with the way the story is going.
The next arc would be the Tatarigoroshi-hen, and it seems that Satoko is the main focus for this arc. Judging on the ASuki forums, Tatarigoroshi seems to be a very pivotal arc and also the main source of Satoko fandom. How is it, I would really love to see… ahhh… subbers quicken the pace please :).
