Who would get off Haruhi as a kid? That's pedophilia . . . People on the internet are weird--Itsuki and Kyon camp . . . sigh . . .

Anyways, regarding the comments, you can read the translated novels on Wikipedia or I think actually one of the wiki-subsites . . .

They don't really need to show them making the movie. The movie is funny enough by itself with Kyon's comments and pretty much self-explanatory.

I agree that "over-extended monologues" should not make a difference in terms of the medium. "Written literature" (isn't that redundant?) is simply the recorded words of a narrative. When you read it, you are decoding the words as meaning in your head, but most people hear the words and imagine scenes.

As far as a second season, I hope they do make new seasons. However, they made Samurai Champloo to be only the first run of 26 episodes sadly . . . so even if it's good, then there is no guarantee that they will keep producing it

buh Said: "..the over-extended monologues which are perfectly acceptable in written literature..."

You obviously have never read Mamoru Oshii's Blood: The Last Vampire novel...

Not all the stories in the novels have been animated yet. From what I've read, there will be a few main arcs in the Suzumiya series and this current series is focused on the 1st arc, which the is the first novel, introducing the characters of Suzumiya Haruhi to us.

It's much easier to think like this... The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi is focused on the first novel interspersed with the "omake" parts of the series( the murder mystery, school festival etc..) to make up for the lack of episodes.

Trust me. After being spoiled to the rest of the story arcs, I am eagerly anticipating the next season of Suzumiya Haruhi. KyoAni is riding on such a huge wave of success and sitting on such a extraordinarily exceptional source material to say that it will be heresy if they do not make more of it.

LIKE, wut's gonna happen to episode 11 and 12, which they're suppose to make the movie...? and there is really really good episode in book 3 (forgot wut it was called) but it was between "boredom of suzumiya haruhi" and "misterique sign"....

I felt that this episode was very slowly paced compared to the rest of the series. While that alone is not a bad thing, it becomes clear that greatest weakness of novel to a movie/television format are the over-extended monologues which are perfectly acceptable in written literature but comes out as somewhat awkward and boring when it comes to the film. It happens all the time: Harry Potter movies, Da Vinci Code, etc. So while it's not really the fault of anyone, KyoAni has done such a commendable job of making things very interesting with these explanations of Haruhi's universe (see episode 5), it's a letdown to say the very least at what was a completely direct conversion from the novel.

Still the last episode should have more "walk than talk" so I eagerly await the final episode of what I hope to be the first of many seasons.

Ah yes genius and madness are only seperated by degrees of success. Hopefully the last ep of what better be just the first season with more to come will go off with a bang. Haruhi also noticed Nagatoochi's missing glasses perhaps more jealousy will ensue. I am hoping for one more Fang-tan scene.
