Dang it... know where I can get a copy seperately, or have the PS2 one ordered in? :D I have only the download version of the game, bought straight from Key's site.

Both the PC and PS2 first-press versions are bundled with the novel. The PC one is pretty much an unbuyable now unless you try your luck in the Japanese auction sites. So it may be a better idea to preorder the PS2 version instead, which is scheduled to be released in late August.

If you don't care about the novel, you can go ahead and get the PC popular version with ease. But well, I would give up an arm and a leg just to see more Reverie goodness. :)

Here is the cover of the book. The novel consists of a series of short stories in the Planetarian world written by the original scenario writer of the game, Yuuichi Suzumoto.. One of them focuses on the pleasant prewar days when Reverie started to work in the planetarium.

On a side note, Key is going to release a first-press of the OST for just 2000 yen, with a B5 size illustration book featuring artwork from famous illustrators as a gift. The bad news is that you will only be able to find the first-press OST in Comiket 70, a convention that is scheduled to be held in August. Probably the popular version will not come with any extra, just like the ones for PC and PS2.

Gotta curse Key for all those "first-press" gimmicks that have been turning my wallet inside out...

Doraneko: Was that for the PS2? I've never seen the novel before, but I'd be interested... if only to have an excuse to learn Japanese. :D

Thank you very much for recommending this visual novel. It is really touching and moving indeed. Though it didn't reduce me into tears (so far nothing in the literature/media world has made me cry, so it can't be helped...), it has left me in a bitterness and melancholy for quite some time. I can only pray that Reverie will reach the undivided heaven as she wished. Kyoani should really animate this after finishing Kanon. Planetarian world + Reverie + Godly animation = pure win.

Anyway it took me a great deal of effort to get the out-of-stock first-press, but the bundled novel copy with extra stories of Reverie and her world should well worth the price. (waiting anxiously for the package to arrive)

Hmm... I'm kinda busy with AIRRADE and Melty Blood for now. But I'll give it a try later. I plan to try out all the insani Visual novels anyways.

I'd guessed what it'd end like as well - but you had to go on anyways, just to see if there would be something different...

Only to find out that, no, Santa doesn't exist and miracles don't always happen. And that he'll just sit there, waiting for the end, staring up at the sky with a head full of memories of something clearer and starry... something that nobody else probably remembers now.

But well.. there is a certain attraction to the poignantness of this stories.

But I have appreciate the story telling. It made me regret doing things, for example, Reverie's most repeated quote of "What do you think of the Planetarium?". I had skipped most of it, when she had her "practices", but in her final moments.... the same exact quote made me cry.

For some reason, halfway through the story, I had already (correctly) guessed what the ending would be like. But the development had already reached to a point that I thought my guess was wrong, only to be disappointed and proven correct. Never have I felt so bad on being correct.
