More Negima (2006-05-11 04:41:03)
Gainax and Shaft will co-produce a new Negima TV series to debut this fall in Japan. Star Child Records is also reportedly involved.

and from ANS:

5-10-06 (7:30AM EDT)—- GAINAX And SHAFT On Negima 2nd Stage
It’s been revealed animation studios GAINAX and Shaft will be teaming on the production of a second Mahou Sensei Negima! TV series to be directed by Akiyuki Shinbo (Nanoha / Paniponi Dash). Star Child Records will also be involved and this will mark the first time in many years since they last partnered with GAINAX. No other details are available but expect a Fall 2006 broadcast debut in Japan on TV Tokyo.

Considering the ultimate phail that was the Negima TV anime, with a lot of thanks to a certain party \*coughxebeccough\*, this news was the best one that I’ve heard in the whole week. I was literally crying in joy when I first read this. Akamatsu-sensei should have hired them first to do the anime, instead of the other trainwreck he used.

Of course, considering the track record that Gainax(Eva, Top wo Nerae) and Shaft(Tsukuyomi, Pani Poni) has, they are the best studios, IMHO, to animate the fanservice heaven greatness that is Negima. I’ll be waiting Fall ’06 with great anticipation.. ahhh… *waku waku suru ne….*. September seems so long away….

Oh, and for a random note, I’ve been getting obssesed with GTA:SA lately, having completed 9%, 61 gang tags, max cycling, stamina and muscle, plus getting a 2.2kft wheelie in the time I’ve been playing (a day or so). Not a very good time for that, since I have my finals in less than 3 days :)…. but the BMX is just too damned addictive….

P.S. : Omni really has super powers. I wish him a speedy recovery :).

Not sure if they’ll use the character designs from the OVAs for the TV series, but the OVA designs don’t look bad, they definitely have that Tsukuyomi feel (and it’s a hell of a lot better than what Xebec vomited out):

    I can’t wait for fall now either…

    Yeah, they’re aren’t too bad.

I do hope Gainax and Shaft would use a more true to the manga style art.One of the best points about Negima is the incredibly detailed artwork, which was so horrendously butchered by the You-Know-Who studio. But well, as long as it looks good, I don’t mind :).

Oh yeah, what happened to the OVA series? IIRC, they coming out this summer, right?

Ha ha, I wanted to say something about this on our site too, but all I could think of was “ZOMG! GAINAX AND NEGIMA! WILL I FINALLY ENJOY AN AKAMATSU ANIME ADAPTATION?! HOW AWESOME WILL THIS BE?! KENTAKU’S UNITE”…. yes, exactly that and nothing else. I cant wait.

Negima Anime…. Negima Anime brought Ken Akamatsu from my most favorite to 4th favorite manga-ka just because of horrifying drawing and wutsoever… I hope they produce better and moeier anime…. (well MSN is already perfect Harem neway…) … that actually makes SENSE!

[…] Anywho, the main point. I was reading Kurogane’s post on it and saw this comment: “Negima Anime brought Ken Akamatsu from my most favorite to 4th favorite manga-ka just because of horrifying drawing and wutsoever… I hope they produce better and moeier anime….” […]

One really has to wonder if SHAFT’s uber-kawaii style will match with Akamatsu’s top brand moe-loli-semigoth-ecchi art.

Then again, there’s still Mao-chan and Itsudatte My Santa to look at.

Well, admitedly, Akamatsu’s art quality would be expensive to be done in anime. As a matter of fact, the only studio I think would match up to the quality would be KyoAni, and the thought of KyoAni animating Negima, or even better, remake Love Hina would make me faint, from the sheer happiness.

But still, Gainax and SHAFT do have their own attractions, such as Gainax’s awesome storytelling and plot build-up skills, while SHAFT’s art style is quite nice. Ah… the more I think about it, the more excited I get….

What would be better is if they had the director of Utena direct this series as well.
