Another great, yet incomprehensible episode for Shana for me. For goodness sake, Shana pulled off a Rei by being in bandages half the episode, and she trumps Rei at it…. I can see it now… Shana’ll be the new poster girl for the full body bandage style.
Well, we get some fights, and Wilhelmina’s power to change her headband into a funky tribal mask somehow doesn’t cut it for me though. I really need subs to guide me through all this, especially with the Tenmoku Ikkou suddenly on Shana’s side and the flashbacks with Alastor’s previous Flame Haze, which does look suspiciously like the Shana, minus loli factor.
The real highlight was Shana’s Flame Haze ceremony, which admittedly, added with her full body bandage, is really kinda cool to watch. All it’s lacking is only Shana grabbing the Nietono no Shana which would appear to her floating in mid-air right after the Cocytus appears, but then, Shana needs to earn the sword herself from the Tenmoku Ikkou.
The new ED… what can I say, it’s got a really dreamy feel towards it, plus some melancholy to it. Typical of Ishida Yoko’s work, what I’ve heard that is.I can’t really compare it to Yoake Umarere Shoujo, as they both have their distinct features to it. Safe to say, both songs are on equal footing with each other on listenability.Now…. it’s been **TWO EPISODES** since they announced KOTOKO’s singing the new OP and they’ve dashed our hopes **TWICE** already. Well, I guess third time’s the charm, so with great anticipation, I await next Thursday for Shana 16.
Some have speculated that Shana might go over 24 episodes due to the late change, which I won’t really mind, considering the Shana fanbase. I suppose it could end up as a 52-episoder, as there’s 10 volumes of novel material to cover.
